Hatian- American Styled: Macaroni and Cheese

Hi. It's Joyce Ambroise. Every year my family delegates me, among other things, the macaroni and cheese dish maker for Thanksgiving. I have decided to share my recipe. Please show your own variations and email it to realwivesofsouthflorida@gmail.com or post it on our Facebook wall - thanks.



Take small amount of butter and melt in sauce pan. Fry onions until brown. Add minced garlic.
 
 
 In a separate pot bring water to a boil and add small amount of oil or butter - add pasta.
Cover pot with lid to bring water to boil faster.


Add 2 cups of milk to onion/ garlic mixture.
Bring to boil on medium heat.
 Add cheese, chopped ham, and cream cheese.
Stir frequently to prevent cheese from burning.
 (save 1/2 a pack of shredded cheese)
 
 

 
After macaroni is finished boiling- drain water and place in baking dish.
 

Add cheese mixture to pasta and stir with spoon.
Top off with paprika and rest of shredded cheese.
Bake on 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
